Summary

An attempt is made to study the function of the stylistic n odel in Beethoven's creative activity, particularly the composer's discrepant attitude to the 'Strict Style' in his manuscript copy of Palestrina's "Gloria Patri" and Part Three of Heiliger Dankgesang of the Quartet op. 132. The author's discussion is based on the general theory of consciousness and the unconscious mind proposed by Professor A. E. Sherozia [7;8] on a new categorial basis of the psychology of set (the D. N. Uznadze school). In the author's view the theory in question is of interest not only in unravelling the psychological essence of Beethoven's Quartet op. 132 in its direct relationship to the manuscript copy of "Gloria Patri" from Palestrina' Magnificat "Tertii toni"; it (the theory) can also be viewed as an original model of analysis of the great composer's entire musical heritage as wellas of the depth psychology of musical creativity at large.
