96. Neuropsychological Analysis of Interhemispheric Relations. E. G. Simernitskaya
Moscow State University, Department of Psychology
Summary
In three patients with disturbances of interhemispheric relations associated with deep diencephalic (thalamic) lesions, neither the left nor right hemisphere, when isolated, preserved the ability of information processing. Observations showed that the right hemisphere plays a major role not only in the perception of non-verbal usual stimuli, but of verbal usual stimuli as well. It ensures the immediately experienced but diffuse sensory components in the structure of perceptive activity.
