112. The Role of Conscious and Unconscious Experiences in the Formation of Autistic Attitudes. A. S. Spivakovskaya
Moscow State University, Department of Psychology
Summary
The emergence in children of special conscious but pathologically altered affective systems is inferred on the basis of an analysis of their biographic data. Such affective complexes lead to severe disturbances of the awareness of reality in normal and autistic children. The awareness process-of objects and actions is restricted to the field of their manipulatory abilities, while the functional and communicative attributes are completely ignored. Autistic play activity does not serve as the condition for becoming aware of social meanings. From this point of view the possibilities of using play therapy to correct some traits of autistic behaviour is discussed in the paper.
